Problem with iPhone13Pro
Hi,
I tried to use OpenCap with an iPhone12Mini and an iPhone13Pro (both IOS 17.1.1):
the video-upload of the calibration for the iPhone12Mini works well but the one of the iPhone13pro is not possible. After pressing the button for starting the calibration the phonescreen is getting some kind of foggy and there is no upload.
I tried it several times (also with different setups) but it does not help. Same setups work well with an iPadAir4.Gen and even with an old iPhoneSE from 2016.
Do you have any experiences with iPhone13Pro-problems or problems with iPhonePros in general (maybe because of the three camera-lenses)?
Best regards,
Max

It seems that the problem may be solved after you delete and reinstall the APP in your ios devices.maxp wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 2:06 pmHi,

Thank you very much for your response - I already tried with a reinstalled version but it still does not work! Do you have any further ideas what the problem could be?

Maybe you can try to change the position and orientation of your device?

Re: Problem with iPhone13Pro
I have tried almost everything so far - new positions, new (different) checkerboards, different light-situation...it works well with other IOS-devices...it seems that Edilson Borba has the same problem - could it be an issue of IOS 17.1.1 in combination with an iphone 13 pro?

Re: Problem with iPhone13Pro
Hi Maximilian,
Thanks for reporting. A few follow up questions:
1. Does it fail every single time or occasionally?
2. Did it use to work?
2a. If yes, did it start failing after an iOS update?
2b. If yes, did it start failing after we updated the iOS app (last week, build 1.6 (28) instead of 1.6 (27))?
2c. If yes, did it start failing after we updated the web app (two weeks ago, you might have seen this new feature that informs about the number of connected cameras and number of uploaded videos)
Thanks. We are seeing more errors than usual and are trying to understand what is going on.

Re: Problem with iPhone13Pro
Hi Antoine,
thank you for your answer and your effort!
1. The calibration worked in like 3 cases out of 50 tries - but when it came to the neutralposition it did not work to upload the video...
2. It is difficult for me to say because I just bought the iPhone13Pro a 5 days ago (mainly because of my Master's Thesis) and IOS 17.1.1 was pre-installed - so I just can say that it never really worked with that phone so far...
Best regards

Re: Problem with iPhone13Pro
Hi,
I can confirm it is a problem on our end, we're working on a fix. It should work with devices running iOS 16.x.
Hope we get this fixed soon.

Re: Problem with iPhone13Pro
The problem is now fixed. Update the OpenCap ios app to 1.6(29) in Testflight.

Re: Problem with iPhone13Pro
Thank your very much for the fast solution!
Just in case the iPhone13Pro won't work at some testing-days...would it be legitimate to use my old iPhoneSE (2016) for capturing data? Although it is older than 2018 it works pretty well! Are there any concerns regarding the resolution of the camera?
