Question about the visualization in Moco

Post by zhibo zhang » Tue Dec 12, 2023 3:44 am

Hi Moco team:

I have a .osim model which is built in OpenSim. It could be correctly openned and the motion could also be correctly loaded in OpenSim. Recently, I wanna use Moco to estimate the muscle activity based on that model, but the visualization that Moco made is incorrect. For every CustomJoints, their parent frame and child frame is separated very far, which I don't think it's a radians/degrees error cause other kinds of joints are visualized normally. And the movement I loaded to the model in Moco is also not visualized correctly (works normally in OpenSim), it seems the coordination in Moco's GUI is different with OpenSim, right?

Thanks for your time to read this and looking forward to your reply!

Best
Zhibo

Hi Zhibo,

Moco does not have a GUI, but rather uses the built-in visualizer provided by Simbody to visualize solutions. Both the Simbody visualizer and OpenSim GUI should visualize the model in a similar way, so I would bet there is an issue with the model definition.

Could you provide more information about the visualization error and how you think it relates to your custom model?

Best,
Nick
