Inquiry regarding measurement of static balance and gait in OpenSim musculoskeletal models

Post by Silas Purja » Wed Jan 31, 2024 3:31 pm

Dear OpenSim Forum Members,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to inquire about the capabilities of OpenSim regarding the measurement of static balance and gait in musculoskeletal models.

Specifically, I am interested in the following questions:

i) Measurement of Static Balance and Gait: Is it possible to measure static balance and analyse gait patterns using OpenSim's musculoskeletal models? I am keen to explore the feasibility of conducting such analyses within the OpenSim environment.

ii) Consideration of Early Compensatory Balance Reactions: Does OpenSim's musculoskeletal model incorporate early compensatory balance reactions, or does it primarily react based on ground reaction forces, kinematics, forces, and moments?

iii) How does OpenSim control the static balance and dynamic (walking) balance of the musculoskeletal models?

Thank you very much for your attention and assistance.

Warm regards,
Silas
