Comparison CMC results version 2.4.0 vs 2.2.1

Post by Lydia Willemse » Mon Oct 24, 2011 2:50 am

Hi,

I compared the muscle activities that result from CMC for the two versions and I found increased (almost by factor 3) rectus femoris force activity using version 2.4.0 during loading response which indicates increased co-contraction in the knee. I am currious how this can be explained.

Looking forward to response,

Lydia

Out of curiosity, did the other muscle forces change or just rectus in isolation? For example do you see less hip flexor (psoas) force or lower forces in the vasti. In which case, the increase in rectus force could be explained by finding a more effective solution. Perhaps this is what happened in your case?

In contrast to your suggestions, iliacus and psoas force were also doubled just after heel contact. Vasti force didn't change markebly. Thus , besides increased knee co-contraction, increased hip cocontraction occured. This doesn't seem a more optimal solution to me.
