Marker data for measurements

Post by Caterina Passini » Wed Apr 18, 2012 7:15 am

Hi, using the tool scale, I was wondering why even if my static.trc file has not exactly all the same marker name that are in the model, if I used it in Marker data for measurements, the program is able to run and to scale the model (the same thing is not possible with the adjust model markers where just one wrong name doesn’t permit the program to run)… I don’t understand how exactly the Marker data for measurements works? It doesn’t need all the exactly name to scale the model?
Thank you
Caterina

Hi Caterina,

For scaling purposes what really matters are the measurements that specify how to scale individual segments based on distances between pairs of markers. If the trc file contains markers and they are not used in any measurements then I expect they will be ignored by the scaling algorithm. Marker placement and IK try to solve for joint angles to match marker positions, if a marker is specified to match while it doesn't exist in the trc file I'd expect that the tool would not run.

Hope this explains and please let us know if you have further questions.

Best regards,
-Ayman
