hi all,
i download musculoskeletal models from the website--https://simtk.org/home/mshk--which is a model provided by others.
but i cannot open it with Opensim 4.0. when i open the .osim files, it warned that ''It may not exist or you do not have permission to read it.'' and ''Possible reasons: syntax error or unsupported format.''
i don't know how to fix it.
could anyone give me some hints?
regards,
Jiamin

Re: cannot open .osim file
As stated on the project's "Downloads" page (https://simtk.org/frs/?group_id=992), the models were built using OpenSim 2.4. You could try opening and saving the model in OpenSim 3.3 first. If that works, you could try opening the 3.3-compatible version in 4.0.

Hi Thomas Uchida,
Thanks for your advice. But actually, I have already tried to open the model in version 2.4 and 3.3. It does not work.
I don't know how to fix it.
Regards,
Jiamin

Re: cannot open .osim file
I suggest contacting the author of the model, who may be able to share an updated version.

Hi, I installed OpenSim 4.1. I receive the same error for all models from the user guide that i try to open (cannot open osim file). Any suggestion?

Hello,
To rule out path issues, copy the Models folder from the Documents/OpenSim/4.1 folder to another folder near the top of the directory tree (e.g. C:/test/) and see if it works then.
The likely issues are:
- Path name too long (this is a Windows issue that we have no control over, unfortunately)
- Path contains non ASCII-US Characters that confuse parsing
Please let us know if that helps so that others can benefit as well,
