long double, R.I.P.?

SimTKcore exists as a separate project to provide 'one stop shopping' for SimTK Core software and support, although the software is actually developed as a set of interdependent projects. SimTK 1.0 was released in March 2008, SimTK 2.0 in December, 2009.

long double, R.I.P.?

I would like to propose that we drop all pretense of support for "long double" precision in SimTK. Keeping it has costs, but no benefit discernable to me. I would rather put the extra energy into getting float to work properly.

Please let me know if you agree that we should drop this or if you want to discuss it more.

Thanks,
Sherm

I've heard no objections, so "long double" support in SimTK is dead and will disappear soon.
