ContactSphere and ContactMesh interaction?

Post by Brody Hicks » Tue Sep 12, 2023 12:21 pm

Will a contact sphere and a contact mesh interact with one another?

I've seen examples (viewtopicPhpbb.php?f=91&t=11426&p=31820&start=0&view=) where a contact mesh and a contact half space interact, but I am unable to reproduce the same results for a contact mesh and a contact sphere. In my case, the contact sphere passes right through the contact mesh. I am using an ElasticFoundationForce() between the two contacts. An example use case of the motion I am trying to produce would be walking up or down stairs with contacts, where an infinite plane produced by the contactHalfSpace wouldn't do the trick, so a finite rectangular mesh would need to interact with contacts on the foot.

If so, are there any examples of how to do this programmatically in MATLAB?

Thanks,
Brody
