Installing OpenSim 4.0 on MacOSX

Post by Jeongwoo Cho » Wed Sep 20, 2023 7:43 pm

Hello, I am a student and am currently trying to use OpenSim for research at my university lab. Our project has been using version 4.0, and when trying to install it to my local device (running on MacOSX Ventura 13.5.2), I cannot seem to extract the pkg file; it repeatedly throws an "'OpenSim-4.0-mac.pkg' can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash" error, which I have not been able to figure out. I don't believe it's a OS issue because I have tried many solutions on the internet, but have had no success. Is this version of OpenSim not compatible with the newer MacOSX?

Hello,

I'd try version 4.4 on your machine and see if the same problem exists or if it works, this should help resolve if the OS is the issue.

Please let us know what you find out,

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. I do have 4.4 installed successfully and that is currently the version I am using for now. I was recommended that we use 4.0 in our lab so I'm not sure if that will cause any issues later down the road, but I will have to settle on 4.4 for now :)
