Mass scale with total mass or the mass of the segments existed in generic model

Post by xiaowei tan » Thu Oct 26, 2023 3:49 am

Hi,

I am calculating lower joint moments using experimentally measured marker and ground reaction force datasets (OpenSim 4.3), but I am confused that should I input the subject's total mass in the scale tool or only the mass of pelvis and lower body (multiply the total mass by 0.464 as stated in the thread). The latter seems right, but will the mismatching between the ground reaction forces (from total mass) and the partial-body generic model mass affect the moment results?

Moreover, can I use a generic model that only contains shank, ankle, and foot segments if I just want to calculate ankle moment from experimentally measured datasets?

Thanks,
Tan
