Inquiry regarding measurement of forces in muscles and musculoskeletal models

Post by Silas Purja » Wed Jan 31, 2024 3:17 pm

Dear OpenSim Forum Members,

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to seek guidance on a few inquiries related to muscle forces and musculoskeletal modeling:

i) Measurement of forces in muscles: Could you please advise on the methods and tools available within OpenSim to accurately measure forces in muscles?

ii) Availability of musculoskeletal models for the foot only: I am curious to know if there are specific musculoskeletal models tailored for the foot region within OpenSim. If so, I would greatly appreciate any pointers on where to find such models or resources.

iii) Musculoskeletal models of the whole body with arms: In my search, I have come across musculoskeletal models primarily focusing on the body without including the arms. Are there comprehensive musculoskeletal models available that encompass the entire body, including the arms?

I am eager to learn from the expertise and insights of the OpenSim community. Any suggestions, resources, or recommendations you can provide would be immensely valuable for my research endeavors.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Warm regards,
Silas

Hi, please see the available methods here: Overview of OpenSim Workflows.
You can find full body models here (Hamner and Rajagopal): https://github.com/opensim-org/opensim- ... ter/Models.
Further models are available on SimTK website. Here are two examples of elaborated foot models:
