Adding External Forces

Post by Moe Curtin » Wed Nov 11, 2009 10:09 am

Is there a basic step by step guide as to how to add external forces to a model? I have read the tutorials and user guide but it doesn't seem to be covered in much depth.

Thanks!

Hi Moe,

Up to version (1.9.1) you could add forces to a model using the "ActuatorSet" of the model. If these forces are to be used in specific tools then this is done in setup files (e.g. The forward tool allows applying ground reaction forces read from a file to the model during forward simulation), and using the flags to append/replace actuators.

There's a fundamental change, however, in how to do things in OpenSim 2.0 (due next month).

Best,
