.STL geometry files do not display properly

Post by Vaibhavsingh Varma » Thu Apr 11, 2024 5:55 pm

I am using some .STL files generated from SolidWorks and adding them as <Body>. The geometry displays in the Opensim visualizer but it is not as desired. See Picture: Opensim 3.3 - displays well Opensim 4.0 and above - does not display well just shows a random mesh. I am using the exact same .STL file in both versions.
Can I please get some recommendations for getting over this issue?

Hi, in my experience, this happened when the single geometry file consisted of multiple parts. You can fix it by using Boolean union or other similar tools in your CAD software, or define a separate Mesh for each part in your OpenSim model (in the attached_geometry tag). Please see Ayman's response here: viewtopicPhpbb.php?f=91&t=11423&p=0&start=0&view=
