Library of Human Walking Motion Data

Post by Jerry Pratt » Fri Mar 18, 2011 11:53 am

Does anyone know if there are any libraries of normal human walking data with the OpenSim model and motion data files?

Right now I'm looking for flat ground walking at different speeds. The only thing I've been able to find are the files in the examples directory.

I'm looking for human walking data for inspiration/comparison for how our humanoid robots walk.

Thanks!

Hi Jerry,

Check out this SimTK project which has walking simulations at multiple speeds for multiple subjects: https://simtk.org/home/mspeedwalksims

The data can all be loaded into OpenSim using existing models. The simulations are from this study:

Liu, M.Q., Anderson, F.C., Schwartz, M.H. and Delp, S.L., Muscle contributions to support and progression over a range of walking speeds, Journal of Biomechanics, Nov 2008, 41(15):3243-3252.
