Residuals have increased after RRA

Post by Sangjun Lee » Sun Aug 21, 2011 11:06 pm

Hi,
I used RRA for a gait trial, but residuals have increased :(

At first, residuals were less than ±100N throughout the time period.
After RRA, however, residuals increased especially at the beginning and the end of the time period. (about 175N max)

Actually, I used actuator, control constraints, and RRA task files from the gait2392 example for the osim model from the runningsim project. Can this be a problem?

Hi Sang,

If the files were made for a different model/activity you may need to modify them according to your needs (e.g. to better track some joints or help overcome different errors in grf). The assumptions built into the files may have been OpenSim version dependent (are you using the same version suggested by the runningsim project)? Latsely, RRA modifies COM location but not the mass itself so you'd need to modify this manually and reiterate.

Hope this helps,
-Ayman
