Contact modeling using Elastic Foundation Option

Post by Rahmatullah Safdar » Wed Sep 25, 2024 4:36 pm

Hi all

I successfully completed tutorial 1 using Hun Crossly contact model for both elastic and dissipative cases
I want to do the same by using an Elastic Foundation model

What will I need to do

I replaced the Hunt Crossley contact model with an Elastic Foundation Model by changing the forces set 01 xml file
I followed all the steps but when I run the model the sphere sinks all the way

I used copied the force set 01 xml code for elastic foundation contact force in main OpenSim file bouncing sphere osim

I am attaching the code for elastic foundation model for your kind reference

I can add additional information if needed

Your comment and insight is appreciated

Hi all,

I went through both the tutorials. The concept introduced is great. I have encountered a problem doing the second

We open the main model "bouncing_ellipsoids.osim" in OpenSim and both sphere and ellipsoid sinks. To avoid this we are editing this file in Notetpad++.

One main file "bouncing_ellipsoids.osim" that we are editing, and two files are are adding to this model code are:
1. force_set_02.xml
2. contanct_geometry_set_02.xml

After saving it and trying to open the model again model again in OpenSim, I am encountering this error. Can anyone comment on this error and propose a solution? There is something wrong with the geometry of the ellipsoid. There is a mesh file "ellipsoid" with (.obj) extension but it says it is not in the same folder as the buoncing_ellipsoids.osim.

Attaching two files for your kind reference and waiting on the response from the OpenSim community and the team of this specific project.
