Muscles only on one side of the body

Post by Michala Cadova » Thu Apr 26, 2012 3:57 am

Hi,
I have a question concerning the movement of the model which has muscles only in one half of the body – more concretely – I am working with the “head and neck” model from Vasavada, and there are muscles only on the right side of the body (head and neck). How will the results be influenced by this? I want to do the static optimization – to compute muscle forces - for the prescribed movement. Do I have to add the muscles also to the other side? Or there is something like “symmetrical solution”??

Thank you for any advice

Michala

Hi Michala,

There's no "symmetric solution" option for static optimization, you'd have to copy and "reflect" the muscles. Please submit a feature request to specify a plane of symmetry and have the model components "reflected" about it and we'll assess it for inclusion in future releases.

Best regards,
