Lumbar Spine Model and GIBBON

Post by Sebastiano Caprara » Mon Oct 15, 2018 7:08 am

Dear all,

first of all thanks a lot for the open source model that you provided. I am working on statistical models of the spine and image analysis to create patient-specific finite element and multibody dynamics models.
I started to play around a little bit with FEBio and GIBBON platforms lately. I would like to try to fuse deformable 3D statistical models together with your FEBio model for the moment just single functional unit. May I ask you if you also used your lumbar model together with the GIBBION platform? I am having some troubles when trying to import the model in Matlab to read the different parts.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi Sebastiano,

I have not used GIBBON and don't know of anyone that has used our models with GIBBON.

Does GIBBON support discrete elements (springs)? My first guess is that your import issues are caused by the discrete elements and/or the custom material used for the disc.

Best,
Ben Ellis
