model convergence notes: 05/17/19 all cartilage and meniscus contacts-failed to converge only cartilage contacts -converged at 0.025, interrupted add tbc-l to mns-l contact -converged at 0.025, interrupted add mns-l to fmc contact -converged at 0.0125, interrupted add mns-m to tbc-m contact - converged at 0.0125, interrupted add mns-m to fmc contact - failed (turned off) add mns-m to mcl tie add mcl to fmb contact - failed (turned off) add mcl to tbb contact - failed try turning off mns contacts to check the ligament contacts. back to only cartilage contacts add mcl to tbb contact -converged at 0.025, interrupted add mcl to fmb contact - converged at 0.025, interrupted add qat to fmb contact - converged at 0.025, interrupted add qat to fmc contact - converged at 0.025, interrupted now add back mns contacts one at a time, each time turing off the others to see which is causing issues, or if its a combination. add tbc-l to mns-l contact -converged at 0.025, interrupted. turned off add mns-l to fmc contact - converged at 0.025, interrupted. turned off add mns-m to tbc-m contact - converged at 0.025, interrupted. turned off add mns-m to fmc contact - failed. turned off now combine the working mns contacts add tbc-l to mns-l, mns-l to fmc, mns-m to tbc-m contacts - converged at time 0.0125 add mns-m- mcl tie - failed. Conclusion: problematic ties/contacts are: mns-m to mcl tie mns-m to fmc contact There is some overlap in the geometry between mns-m and fmc, so that is likely causing an issue. tried decreasing the penaltly to 0.0001 in the mns-m to fmc contact - still failed. will try editing the mns-m geometry.. 05/20/19 edited MNS-M by cutting the FMC stl from the MNS-M stl in blender (then manually editing in meshlab). there is no longer any overlap between the two meshes. turned on all the contacts that were previously working.. add mns-m fmc contact - converged at time 0.0125 add mns-m -mcl tie - converged at time 0.0125 The model in this state converged to 19% in 1 hour 4 minutes, then failed. By searching the elements that are causing negative jacobians, it appears that there is some element locking/stress concetration at the LCL insertion to the TBB
