Detailed description
Presently one must check out the entire trunk of the vtkbin project and use the top level cmkakelists file to install vtk binaries using cmake. This uses a lot of disk space and checkout time. If each platform-specific subdirectory, for example "windows32" had a self sufficient cmakelists file, users could check out only the subdirectory of interest, and install vtk from there.
