Medicine: An act of administering a wound intervention involving medicated or protective layer or material to the affected area. 2
IT/Software/Computer Science: Often used as a shorthand for "Software Application" or "Application Program" to refer to a software that runs on a computer or hand-held device for functional or entertainment purpose. More recent cultural shifts due to wider use of the personal handheld devices have propagated further abbreviation of this term to simply "app".3
