Immediate Action Items:

Notes:

  1. Ahmet asked for progress in Model Calibration phase. CSU team is still running simulations, theoretically they can be done by the end of August but may need more time. They are in the middle of calibration, have not run other simulations, deviations have been documented on the go. HSS team spent significant time in geometry refinement as a prerequisite to getting into calibration. They are in the middle of calibration for oks003, did not begin running other simulations, and deviations have been documented on the go. Denver group calibrated both of the knees but they may revisit their calibrations. Protocol deviation and documentation have been performed. About other simulation cases, Don noted that setup files are there. They are on track for delivery by the end of August. ABI team had two uncalibrated models but ran simulations with oks003. They have to redo DU02 and run all left over simulations with it. They have notes, and asked for how important to tend to that process. Ahmet noted that it will be helpful to utilize documentation to clarify subjective decisions and experiences as part of the "art" of modeling. Thor noted that there may be models that are tuned to inconsistent data. Recalibrating all models from all teams to a consistent data set. Carl also noted that how groups with prior experience with data handle the data compared to those who do not have that experience. Ahmet noted that they found some errors in their process and fixed it. This resulted in rerunning of oks003 calibration and all the other simulations. They are also working on DU02 calibration. End of August still seems amenable.
  2. Ahmet informed the participants that the final year award has not been approved yet.
  3. Nynke and Marco integrated changes to the manuscript on Model Development overview. A submission ready version will be provided to co-authors for final review. They have also been working on the mesh comparison paper to share with the co-authors. This manuscript will be submitted as a follow up.
  4. Carl noted that he aims to deliver the ORS workshop manuscript by the time Model Calibration is done.
  5. Jason has a draft of review manuscript on reporting and reproducibility of knee models. He can send out to the co-authors a Google Docs link by the end of the week. Ahmet reminded co-authors to review this draft in a timely fashion.
  6. Pete commended the Auckland team for the heavylifting of Model Development overview manuscript. He noted that we may want to provide data analysis and model results for the Model Calibration phase in a standard form to compile graphics for a related manuscript. Ahmet noted that the team who leads the drafting of that manuscript can request provision of model outcomes in a manner that they can utilize effectively.
