- Nynke Rooks (ABI)
- Ahmet Erdemir (CC)
Agenda:
- Model Calibration outcomes.
- Model Benchmarking phase plan.
- Manuscripts.
- Grant renewal.
- Other.
Immediate Action Items:
- Ahmet
- Upload Cleveland Clinic Model Calibration phase outcomes to SimTK.
- Create and share a Google Docs document for curation of potential specific aims.
- Setup a meeting to go over ideas for renewal project's specific aims.
- Jason
- Submit manuscript on knee model reviews.
Nynke & Thor
- Submit manuscript on geometry and mesh differences.
- All
- Submit Model Benchmarking specifications.
Notes:
- Ahmet acknowledged that all Model Calibration outcome packages were submitted, and with the exception of Cleveland Clinic's, uploaded to the SimTK site. Ahmet is trying to find a way to push ~100GB of package from Cleveland Clinic's workflow.
- Ahmet asked for feedback on Model Benchmarking phase instructions, including any clarification that may be needed for recalibration and benchmarking data. He summarized the intention of recalibration and the extent of benchmarking load cases. Will asked about the possibility of procedure changes in calibration workflow with the recalibration data and wondered if data from original calibration may need to be used. Ahmet emphasized that the recalibration procedure should be faithful to the calibration steps, except now with the recalibration data. He also noted that all teams utilize the recalibration data to ensure that any ambiguity related to the a modeler's data interpretation does not influence recalibration results. Participant's confirmed their understanding of the Model Benchmarking phase. Specifications documents are anticipated to include identification of mismatches between modeler's calibration data interpretation, recalibration steps, and benchmarking steps.
- Ahmet also asked for confirmation on the timeline. Specifications are expected by the end of February 2021 and the packages (including protocol deviations) are expected by the end of June 2021. The teams agreed on the feasibility of this schedule.
- Ahmet advised Denver team to look at Model Calibration outcomes packages in preparation to related manuscripts: broad calibration phase description and comparison, data interpretation variations and guidance.
- Jason will reach out to Farshid Guilak (Journal of Biomechanics) about the upcoming submission of knee model reviews. Nynke will submit the mesh comparison manuscript. The manuscript on Model Development phase was accepted, final documents will be submitted.
- No cost extension will be requested for the project to finalize the Model Reuse phase. The finances of all teams are in good shape, i.e. they can accommodate an extension.
- The participants also discussed renewal submission. Thor is interested in aiming for a July submission. Depending on our progress in Model Benchmarking phase and hardening of specific aims, this may be a possibility. Otherwise, an October submission will be planned. Many different ideas have been discussed. These will be curated in a Google Docs document for all to add, review, elaborate. Thor also mentioned that we may want to focus on community, e.g. through workshops. Ahmet noted that how the project is actually a metascience project for modeling and simulation, with the knee as a test bed. Program project grants may be possible, depending on the community. Ahmet also encouraged the teams to look other funding venues that they may be able to leverage, at least for their part of the work.
