  3. Model Reuse planning.
  4. Other.

Immediate Action Items:

Notes:

  1. Ahmet asked about Denver group's needs in regard to the spreadsheet populated by the modeling teams. They will go over and see if they can make a sense of these to support development of Model Calibration manuscript. The metadata provides a lot of insight on the choices of modelers. Calibration approaches are different, making the task of filling in the spreadsheet challenging. Passive flexion data may be the low hanging fruit. Ahmet noted that nuances of the data may matter, e.g. coordinate systems, experimental or ideal loading cases. It makes sense to utilize the results of passive flexion simulations with registered experimental coordinate system (for consistency among groups) and idealized loading of passive flexion (flexion prescribed, no external loads). Thor (DU) asked all teams to provide notes in a fashion similar to Cleveland Clinic team. These will help to understand the results.
  2. Nynke asked about the meaning of target points. Thor (DU) described that those are specific time point the optimization tried to match (included as error in the objective function). Marko wondered about normalizing to the same knee coordinate system. Ahmet indicated that all groups using the registered experiment coordinate system should be good enough for consistency without the need to rerun simulations.
  3. Jason has submitted the knee models reproducibility review manuscript to JOR. He recommended reviewers that are involved in credibility and validation but not necessarily in knee modeling.
  4. Carl has sent a draft of the 2019 workshop. The outline includes perspectives my three speakers, summary of flash opinions by another three, and survey results. An introduction and a conclusion wraps up the summary. Carl asked Ahmet to take look at it for phrasing. Ahmet encouraged Carl to contact potential co-authors to make sure they evaluate the document and when finalized pass it through their institution's review processes.
  5. Ahmet asked about participation to ORS. He is not inclined to go. Jason will be going. Carl is organizing an RIG with Hannah Dailey (integrating computational modeling to larger holistic efforts, e.g., animal or patient models). Pete and Kevin may go. Ahmet mentioned the implant session on credibility of modeling and simulation.
  6. Ahmet noted that the grant period ends by the end of June 2022, giving us 6 months to execute the Model Reuse phase. Many groups will likely complete the work and be spent out. Some others may be delayed with deliverables and may require no cost extension to utilize the funds in support of providing modeling and simulation packages. Ahmet mentioned that if this becomes the case, he will ask for another no cost extension. We need to pay attention to progress reports (for no cost extension) or final report in regard to closure.
  7. Carl has been looking for personnel (MS, PhD, 2 slots open). Jason is looking for one as well. Pete asked about the ads to circulate. Carl and Jason will pass the information.
