Immediate Action Items:

Notes:

  1. Discuss immediate action items from past meetings.
    • All action items were related to the recurring agenda items; refer to discussions below.
  2. Readiness for in vivo testing.
    • Tara tested weight compensation for the ultrasound probe. The results are encouraging, e.g. within 2% of actual weight.
    • Tyler tested new pulse train with wider pulse widths and the ultrasound was able to register timing of every R Wave peak.
    • Tyler made progress on the Python script to associate DICOM and tdms files. The script can successfully associate files but still requires debugging to handle large amounts of files with variations.
    • A mock up session is planned for upcoming Friday.
  3. In vitro testing setup and specifications.
    • To prepare for in vitro imaging, Tyler scheduled an MRI session with the in-house imaging facility. He will get a multi-layer tissue sample imaged. Ahmet mentioned to start with a proton density protocol. Sample imaging settings are available in the Open Knee(s) project wiki. The in-house facility provides a 7 Tesla MRI for small specimens. Nonetheless, the imaging parameters may inform sequences for the 3 Tesla MRI, which will be used for leg and arm imaging.
    • Tyler and Robb will test surgical tool forces in concert with MR imaging to utilize the same tissue sample.
  4. Modeling & simulation update.

    • Ahmet attempted to compile SOFA-HAPI, the haptics library for SOFA. He was not successful. It may be a good time to reach out to SOFA community through the forums.
    • Ben and Tyler went to a surgical simulation training session to understand what the current virtual reality capabilities are in current use.
    • Ben continued documentation of SOFA and FEBio and assisted Tyler in his Python scripting. Ahmet suggested the possible need of documenting python scripting styles that may be useful for current and future lab members.
  5. Other.
    • None noted.
