Notes:
- Manuscripts update.
- In vivo data paper is published in Scientific Data.
- Rici has completed a draft of the in vivo indentation paper. Ahmet will review.
- Rici will reach out to Jim Bena about the statistics for the image comparison paper.
- Ben has been working to make some figures for the modeling manuscript, however some errors were occurring with the scripts on Windows. All of the models work in Linux and Windows, with the exception of Sofa.
- Tyler has been working on drafts of the in vitro data and surgical tools data papers.
- Instrumented ultrasound paper is in review at Journal of Biomechanics.
- Data dissemination update.
- The in vitro data management site is up and running now. Rici has uploaded the data for the first 7 arms and legs.
During the next meeting with Stanford team we will discuss two items: (1) integration with SimTk and (2) final "clone" of the data management site for surgical tools data.
- In vitro testing status.
- Surgical tools testing for 7 specimens has been completed. Two more donors (arm and leg) are supposed to arrive today. Ultrasound testing and surgical tools testing has been scheduled over the course of the next month for these two donors.
- Tyler plans to wait on tissue testing until he has completed the ultrasound and surgical tools testing so that he has more workspace available.
Modeling & simulation status.
- Sean has made a wiki page for FEBio test suite using version 2.5. He plans to add version 2.8 since Postview is working on Linux now.
- Sean is still working to finish the convergence testing, but has been having difficulty with the higher density models. Ahmet is not concerned about investigating this extensively now. He suggested making a model level that is more coarse than what we have, for use in SOFA simulations.
- Ben is concerned that the probe forces are not converging very well. Ahmet believes this is a contact formulation issue.
- Sean had a road block with the contact surface selections for the layered models. Contact between the skin and the probe is not being recognized. Ben has not found a solution for this issue yet, however he thinks it has to do with the mesh/element definitions. Ben will look into this further.
- Sean is currently using a constant thickness for the skin extrusion. Ahmet would like him to use a mean value for the constant thickness, which can be obtained from raw surfaces of skin and skin-fat interface. Ben had a way to calculate this but needs to find the script; he will work on finalizing a method to compute the mean thickness of the skin.
- Review of action items from past meeting.
- All action items were related to the agenda items; refer to discussions above.
- Decide action items for next meeting.
- See Ongoing Action Items above.
- Other.
- Ahmet ordered the new haptics device, Geomagic TouchX.
- Ahmet submitted the annual report.
- Ahmet reminded the team about upcoming conferences. Abstract submission deadlines are approaching.
