Means: Conference call

  1. Ahmet Erdemir (Cleveland Clinic)
  2. Steve Maas (University of Utah)

  1. Update on feature implementations.
    1. In situ strain -

    2. Set definitions -

    3. Connector elements -

  2. Scheduling Spring 2015 conference calls.
  3. Decide action items for next meeting.
  4. Other.

Immediate Action Items:

  1. Update on feature implementations.
    • For in situ strain feature, Steve drafted a manuscript based on the CMBBE 2014 presentation. As part of the publication, Steve wants to implement the feature in the knee model. Open Knee(s) - Generation 1 can be used under an exciting loading scenario, e.g., passive flexion, to evaluate the role of in situ strain on joint kinematics-kinetics and tissue stresses and strains. Ahmet will provide the latest Open Knee(s) - Generation 1 model. He will also sent a recent manuscript by Yasin Dhaher on the sensitivity of knee mechanics to ligament in situ strains. Ahmet and Steve will follow up by e-mail and come up with a plan with Open Knee(s) simulations for the publication.
    • In regard to sets feature, Steve implemented file output for desired sets by referring to set label. He will update the relevant wiki page with an example. Steve also noted that now within the node definition one can prescribe the nodeset that the node belongs to.
    • Work on connector elements feature is stagnant for now.
  2. Scheduling Spring 2015 conference calls.
    • Weddesdays work for both University of Utah and Cleveland Clinic teams. Steve will follow up with the Utah group to set the time.
  3. Decide action items for next meeting.
    • See Immediate Action Items above.
  4. Other.
    • Steve noted that FEBio input file can be split into multiple files. This may help scripting and modular modeling.
    • Ahmet noted that editing a template FEBio input file using Python scripting is straightforward. It may be good to focus on Python scripting for output files. Steve noted that as convenience features (scripting, sets) mature, the FEBio team may give tutorials on these.
