Immediate Action Items:

Notes:

  1. Discuss immediate action items from the last meeting.
    • Action items were related to the agenda items; refer to discussions below.
  2. Discuss progress of tissue testing protocol evaluation.
    • Tissue testing evaluation and protocols will be finalized by July 31, 2016 such that tissue testing can start before Snehal leaves for summer vacation.
    • Martin Garon from Biomomentum, Inc. identified why 150 gr load cell may be freezing the system during calibration. The issue was related to overloading the load cell during handling it for calibration, which locked the motion axis. It is possible to unlock the motion axis and continue working through the software. The issue is now considered as fixed.
    • Martin Garon from Biomomentum, Inc. mentioned the possibility of the noise being electrical. Yet, Snehal and Robb thought that it was a probably a combination of mechanical and electrical. Snehal and Robb came to this conclusion after trying to electrically isolating the load cell. Nonetheless, Snehal will acquire ceramic washers and plastic screws to attach the load cell to the testing system and ensure that the load cell is electrically isolated.
    • Snehal has started dissecting a trial knee. She will acquire new cartilage samples for reproducibility testing.
    • Snehal conducted a repeatability test on a rubber sample (same size as tissue sample). She performed three unconfined compression tests. First two tests were conducted without moving the sample and the third after removing a placing it back. All three tests started at the same reference displacement to compare force-displacement response. All looked similar. She will repeat these tests on a cartilage sample.
    • Snehal will also document her work on tissue testing evaluation and the modifications to tissue testing protocols.
  3. Discuss progress of joint testing and imaging data manuscripts.
    • Ahmet will review manuscripts by July 10, 2016.
  4. Discuss segmentation plan and progress.
    • Connor has started a table for segmentation in the roadmap wiki page. He also updated the labeling of segmentation results to include the initials of the person who did the segmentation. Ahmet recommended to use three characters; if the person does not have a middle name, to use 'X'.
    • The group went over the segmentation table and claimed tissues to segment.
      • Connor will work on oks002 bones, he already did the femur
      • Snehal will segment bones for oks003.
      • Robb claimed patella bone and cartilage for all specimens.
      • Tara will work on lateral meniscus for all specimens.
      • Ahmet will segment the ACL of oks002.
      • All members will segment relevant tissues from oks001 again to allow assessment of segmentation uncertainties.
    • The team decided to have a segmentation crash course based on the specifications page for segmentation. It was scheduled for the upcoming Friday at 12:30 PM. Snehal will arrange a room; Ahmet will go over the segmentation workflow.
  5. Decide immediate action items for the next meeting.
    • See Immediate Action Items above.
  6. Other.
    • None noted.
