Ongoing Action Items:

Notes:

  1. Discuss immediate action items from the last meeting.
    • Most action items were related to the ongoing agenda items; refer to discussions below.
  2. Discuss progress of tissue testing protocol evaluation.
    • Snehal did a rubber repeatability tensile test and it looks better than previous tissue testing. She used a higher fine contact load and higher preconditioning strain level. She tried the same technique on tissue. The results were not satisfactory.
    • It is possible that the reproducibility issue in tensile and confined compression testing maybe due to find contact being done prior to preconditioning but not after, immediately before the actual test loading. The tissue may settle in the clamp or the chamber after pre-conditioning which may shift the displacement at which force starts accumulating, i.e. zero force displacement. This may result in inadequate recruitment of tissue during loading and misleading comparison of force-displacement data.
    • Snehal will conduct the repeatability tests with the procedure find contact – run preconditioning at high strain levels – find contact again – adjust target strain levels based on new contact point – run test.
  3. Discuss progress of joint testing and imaging data manuscripts.
    • Ahmet still needs to make progress on papers.
  4. Discuss segmentation plan and progress.
    • Robb has continued segmenting the patella and patellar cartilage. He asked about generating geometries from segmentations. Ahmet recommended him to follow the specifications to obtain raw and smoothed surfaces for comparisons.
  5. Decide immediate action items for the next meeting.
    • See Ongoing Action Items above.
  6. Other.
    • Ahmet prepared a simplified model from Open Knee(s) - Generation 1 to include only tibia, femur and anterior cruciate ligament. The model is a kinematics driven model to output anterior cruciate ligament forces. It is designed as a sample model for cloud computing. He created a wiki page as a use case in cloud computing.
