Computing metabolic cost with static optimization

Dear All,
I am wondering if it is possible to use a metabolic probe with static optimization. Or use the output of the static optimization, run an analysis using a metabolic probe, and compute the metabolic cost? Metabolic analysis requires states and controls to be specified. Static optimization only gives muscle forces and activation.
I will be grateful for any suggestions on this topic.

Hi, as far as I know, yes; metabolic cost requires muscle excitation in its calculations. But, static optimization ignores activation dynamics. You can see here how the metabolic probes work:
