The top-level class for solving a custom optimal control problem.
This class consists of a MocoProblem, which describes the optimal control problem, and a MocoSolver, which describes the numerical method for solving the problem.
When building a MocoStudy programmatically (e.g., in C++), the workflow is as follows:
After calling solve(), you can edit the MocoProblem and/or the MocoSolver. You can then call solve() again, if you wish.
The most common way to obtain the MocoStudy is in code, using the MocoSolution object returned by solve(). This norm differs from the behavior of OpenSim's other tools, which do not make their results available in code and instead write their results to file. If you want MocoStudy to write the solution to file at the end of solve(), use set_write_solution() and set_results_directory(). The name of the solution file is "<study-name>_solution.sto" or "MocoStudy_solution.sto" if the MocoStudy object has no name. Alternatively, you can write the solution to file yourself:
You can save the MocoStudy to a file by calling MocoStudy::print(), and you can load the setup using MocoStudy(const std::string& omocoFile). MocoStudy setup files have a .omoco
extension.
The default solver, MocoCasADiSolver, uses the CasADi automatic differentiation and optimization library. Moco also provides the MocoTropterSolver, which uses the tropter optimal control library that is part of the OpenSim project. If you want to use MocoTropterSolver instead of MocoCasADiSolver, call initTropterSolver() before solve(). We would like to support users plugging in their own solvers, but there is no timeline for this.
typedef MocoStudy OpenSim::MocoStudy::Self |
This typedef might be useful within the member functions of this class.
This is generated by the OpenSim_DECLARE_*_OBJECT
macros.
typedef Object OpenSim::MocoStudy::Super |
Use this typedef to refer to the superclass of this class.
Avoid using the explicit type name of the superclass; this would introduce bugs if the superclass is changed.
This is generated by the OpenSim_DECLARE_*_OBJECT
macros.
OpenSim::MocoStudy::MocoStudy | ( | ) |
OpenSim::MocoStudy::MocoStudy | ( | const std::string & | omocoFile | ) |
Load a MocoStudy setup file.
TimeSeriesTable OpenSim::MocoStudy::analyze | ( | const MocoTrajectory & | traj, |
const std::vector< std::string > & | outputPaths
) | const |
Calculate the requested outputs using the model in the problem and the states and controls in the MocoTrajectory.
The output paths can be regular expressions. For example, ".*activation" gives the activation of all muscles. Constraints are not enforced but prescribed motion (e.g., PositionMotion) is.
|
inlineoverride |
TimeSeriesTable OpenSim::MocoStudy::calcGeneralizedForces | ( | const MocoTrajectory & | traj, |
const std::vector< std::string > & | forcePaths
) | const |
Compute the generalized coordinate forces for the provided trajectory based on a set of applied model Forces.
This can be used to compute an inverse dynamics solution from a MocoTrajectory, where the applied model Forces are typically external forces in the system (e.g., ExternalForce or SmoothSphereHalfSpaceForce). However, the forcePaths
argument can contain paths to any Forces in the model.
traj | The MocoTrajectory for which to compute the generalized forces. |
forcePaths | The model paths to the Forces which will be applied to the model to compute the generalized forces. |
appliesForce
property is obeyed when calculating the generalized forces.
|
inlineoverridevirtual |
Create a new heap-allocated copy of the concrete object to which this Object refers.
It is up to the caller to delete the returned object when no longer needed. Every concrete object deriving from Object implements this pure virtual method automatically, via the declaration macro it invokes (e.g., OpenSim_DECLARE_CONCRETE_OBJECT()). Note that the concrete class overrides modify the return type to be a pointer to the concrete object; that still overrides the base class method because the return type is covariant with (that is, derives from) Object.
Implements OpenSim::Object.
|
inlineprotected |
Get the value of the problem property.
|
inline |
Get the value of the results_directory property.
|
inlineprotected |
Get the value of the solver property.
|
inline |
Get the value of the write_solution property.
|
inlinestatic |
This returns "MocoStudy".
See getConcreteClassName() if you want the class name of the underlying concrete object instead.
This is generated by the OpenSim_DECLARE_*_OBJECT
macros.
|
inlineoverridevirtual |
Returns the class name of the concrete Object-derived class of the actual object referenced by this Object, as a string.
This is the string that is used as the tag for this concrete object in an XML file. Every concrete class derived from Object automatically overrides this method via the declaration macro it uses. See getClassName() to get the class name of the referencing (possibly abstract) class rather than the concrete object.
Implements OpenSim::Object.
const MocoProblem& OpenSim::MocoStudy::getProblem | ( | ) | const |
Access the MocoProblem within this study.
MocoCasADiSolver& OpenSim::MocoStudy::initCasADiSolver | ( | ) |
Call this method once you have finished setting up your MocoProblem.
This returns a reference to the MocoSolver, which you can then edit. If using this method in C++, make sure to include the "&" in the return type; otherwise, you'll make a copy of the solver, and the copy will have no effect on this MocoStudy. This deletes the previous solver if one exists.
|
inline |
OSIMMOCO_API MocoTropterSolver& OpenSim::MocoStudy::initSolver | ( | ) |
OSIMMOCO_API MocoCasADiSolver& OpenSim::MocoStudy::initSolver | ( | ) |
MocoTropterSolver& OpenSim::MocoStudy::initTropterSolver | ( | ) |
This deletes the previous solver if one exists.
|
inlinestatic |
For use in MATLAB and Python to access the concrete class.
Example: cObj = MocoStudy.safeDownCast(obj)
. This is equivalent to dynamic_cast<MocoStudy*>(obj)
in C++.
|
inlineprotected |
Set the value of the problem property.
|
inline |
Set the value of the results_directory property.
|
inlineprotected |
Set the value of the solver property.
|
inline |
Set the value of the write_solution property.
|
inline |
MocoSolution OpenSim::MocoStudy::solve | ( | ) | const |
Solve the provided MocoProblem using the provided MocoSolver, and obtain the solution to the problem.
If the write_solution property is true, then the solution is also written to disk in the directory specified in the results_directory property.
You must have finished setting up both the problem and solver.This reinitializes the solver so that any changes you have made will hold.
Use MocoSolution::success() on the returned solution to detect if the solver succeeded. If the solver did not succeed the solution will be sealed: you will not be able to use the failed solution until you acknowledge the failure by invoking MocoSolution::unseal().
|
inlineprotected |
Get a writable reference to the problem property.
|
inline |
Get a writable reference to the results_directory property.
|
inlineprotected |
Get a writable reference to the solver property.
|
inline |
Get a writable reference to the write_solution property.
MocoProblem& OpenSim::MocoStudy::updProblem | ( | ) |
Access the MocoProblem within this study.
This function allows you to modify the MocoProblem. If using this method in C++, make sure to include the "&" in the return type; otherwise, you'll make a copy of the problem, and the copy will have no effect on this MocoStudy. See this example:
MocoSolver& OpenSim::MocoStudy::updSolver | ( | ) |
Access the solver.
Make sure to call initSolver()
beforehand. If using this method in C++, make sure to include the "&" in the return type; otherwise, you'll make a copy of the solver, and the copy will have no effect on this MocoStudy.
|
inline |
void OpenSim::MocoStudy::visualize | ( | const MocoTrajectory & | traj | ) | const |
