Immediate Action Items:

Notes:

  1. Discuss immediate action items from last meeting.
    • Ahmet needs to provide documentation on DICOM meta data for ultrasound imaging. He needs to follow up to acquire more detailed ultrasound probe drawings.
    • Tammy acquired data with the 3D ultrasound probe. Ahmet showed some of these images to the group. It appears that the spatial resolution of the images are limited to 1 mm voxel size. The group decided that using the 3D probe may not be beneficial.
    • Tammy started documenting the in vivo testing strategy and provided files including ultrasound probe descriptions and anatomical positioning of the subjects during imaging. She also proposed locations for limb circumference and length measurements and uploaded a file in regard to her proposal. The group agreed with her proposal, she will also confirm with John-Eric Jelovsek. She will also work on documenting ultrasound imaging locations, possibly using clock reference points with anterior as 12 o'clock.
    • Callan provided an analysis of force transducer placement and measurement range to decide upon one to use with the ultrasound. Nano25 from ATI will work. Robb will check if it would be possible to acquire this transducer with two different calibrations. The group decided to attach the load cell as close to the sensing plane of the probe as possible with the load cell sensing plane facing the probe. A uniform housing for force transducer will be needed to easily replace the ultrasound probe.
    • Tara received documentation on ECG wiring for the ultrasound. The group went over the diagram and requested more details, e.g. voltage range. Tara will follow up with Siemens for more information and to setup a conference call possibly during next week's meeting. She did not follow up with gating of imaging using ECG in order to focus on the aforementioned discussions. Robb noted that we should ask Siemens how we can put a square wave pulse train on the ultrasound image using ECG.
  2. Additional issues for ultrasound system-force transducer integration.
    • See relevant discussions above on immediate action items from last meeting.
  3. Details of in vivo testing protocol.
    • See relevant discussions above on immediate action items from last meeting.
  4. Decide immediate action items for next meeting.
    • See Immediate Action Items above.
  5. Other.
    • The group discussed handling of surgical tools to identify requirements for their instrumentation with force transducers. Robb asked what the common tools are and how one manipulates them. Ahmet recommended him to contact John-Eric Jelovsek for advice.
    • Ahmet went over his updates on the wiki. He summarized the format of in vivo testing specifications and infrastructure page for the instrumented ultrasound. He encourage team members to document their efforts in these pages. Ahmet also summarized the timeline for various activities for team members to keep an eye on. These are documented in the front page of the wiki.
