Immediate Action Items:

Notes:

  1. Discuss immediate action items from last meeting.
    • Ahmet started working on the design to assemble the ultrasound probe to the force transducer. He was able to re-orient and trim the three-dimensional scan of 9L4 to extract a specific-region to build upon. He will continue working on the design and asked team members to pass on any ideas that they may have.
    • Tammy arranged a meeting with the physicians to shadow for musculoskeletal imaging. She provided a list of articles in the specifications page for in vivo testing on measurement of tissue thickness using ultrasound.
    • Ben provided a spreadsheet documenting the relative accuracy of three-dimensional scans of the ultrasound probes against caliper measurements. Ahmet asked him to also upload an illustration indicating measurement locations. Ahmet will show him Inkscape for creating such illustrations.
    • Ben has been running simulations in FEBio for indentation of a simplified multi-layer model. He has been having difficulties to run the model when the indenter was controlled by indentation forces rather than indentation displacement. He wil troubleshoot with Ahmet. Ahmet asked him to start using more realistic parameters to represent geometry and materials. He recommended him to check an article by Petre et al. (2013) where properties of skin, fat, and muscle tissues of the foot can be found.
    • Robb still needs to document surgical tools and their handling on the wiki. He devised a signal generation procedure to send to the ultrasound. He will work on cabling.
    • Tara updated the force collection interface to accommodate reporting of maximum forces. The interface also allows selection of a force transducer calibration range and taring of the transducer. She will incorporate selection of ultrasound probe and all anatomical locations. Tammy will provide a list of labels for the anatomical locations. The group discussed zeroing of the force data to subtract the weight of ultrasound probe. Tammy can do this before starting the experiment at an orientation approximating that of the experiment.
  2. Design of ultrasound probe / force transducer handle.
    • See discussion above on relevant action items.
  3. Decide immediate action items for next meeting.
    • See Immediate Action Items above.
  4. Other.
    • Ahmet mentioned that a candidate for the engineer position will come for an interview in the upcoming Friday. In the following week, a candidate for the research associate position will arrive for an interview. Ahmet asked all team members to meet these candidates.
