Immediate Action Items:

Notes:

  1. Discuss immediate action items from past meetings.
    • Ahmet has started to review the contents of the XML file for subject information and configuration. He noted a few issues. For example, the title for trials and their abbreviation should match. It is also preferable to select labels carefully and put the units as tags instead of part of the label. The XML file is generated easily in LabVIEW using the labels and the values of the user interface. The labels therefore may need to be edited when defining the user interface. He will take a deeper look at the sample file to document any issues in more detail.
    • Tammy tried to figure out ways to let ultrasound image collection stop automatically when using the footswitch. She was not able to identify a successful way to do so. She will contact Siemens to get help.
    • Tammy complete guide sheet for activity levels and uploaded it to the in vivo testing specifications page. The group discussed the adequacy of the descriptions. While differences in opinions were noted, the guide sheet will be helpful to Tammy to appropriately classify the activity level subjects. Ahmet advised Tammy to look at some articles cited in the grant proposal that may provide additional insight in definition of activity levels.
    • Tara showed updates to the data collection software, specifically the sensor configuration button opening a window for calibration. She will add the ultrasound probe name to display in the main screen, remove the tare button in the main window and incorporate it in the sensor configuration window. She will also work on establishing weight compensation using orientation information and calibration data. Tara will also remove special characters, e.g. long dashes, used in the labels of the interface.
    • Robb was not able to attend the meeting due to a business trip. Work on updating synchronization / experiment identification signal to include subject ID has not been done. Robb and Tara did not review the LInUS setup sections of the in vivo testing specifications.
    • Ben was able to get simple indentation model with different meshes solve using FEBio. The force-displacement curves for simulations with hexahedral and linear tetrahedral meshes seem to agree and converge. He has been working on documenting the results for the quadratic tetrahedral meshes.
    • Ben has also been working with SOFA to understand model definition steps. He will continue spending time on this to eventually port the simple indentation model to SOFA.
    • Ben ordered a computer for Tyler Schimmoeller.
  2. Readiness for in vivo testing.
    • Pending work on data collection system are listed below:
      • Tara has been incorporating updates to the user interface and data collection scheme. Embedding of the transformation and calibration configuration information in data files remains. She will work on the calibration and gravity compensation interface. Ahmet will review the interface and file structures.
      • Tara and Robb still need to read through LINUS setup for in vivo testing.
      • A working version of the data collection interface and the software including all the features need to be ready for the next mock up session.
    • Ahmet received the enhanced ultrasound probe - force transducer fixture and handle. The assembly is ready for the next mock up session.
    • Tammy will explore the possibility to set ultrasound imaging stop when using the foot switch. General setup is ready for the next mock up session.
    • The next mock up session will be on Friday, April 29, 2016 @ 1 PM.
  3. Decide immediate action items for next meeting.
    • See Immediate Action Items above.
  4. Other.
    • Ahmet mentioned that he will be working on the in progress review, which will be submitted to the funding agency on April 25, 2016.
    • Tammy noted that she will upload more pictures about the in vivo experimentation setup and relevant components to the in-house data management system and the wiki.
    • Tyler Schimmoeller, who was recruited as a research engineer, will be meeting Ahmet on Friday, April 22, 2016. He will start working on May 16, 2016.
