Immediate Action Items:

Notes:

  1. Discuss immediate action items from past meetings.
    • All action items were related to the recurring agenda items; refer to discussions below.
  2. Readiness for in vivo testing.
    • Tammy conducted a mock up study with Ahmet. The data collection software had a few hiccups, e.g. freezing during data collection, which required a restart and recalibration. Tara was informed. Despite these issues, Tammy was able to go over all the regions within two hours. Some other issues in the software included the activity level of the subject not being saved.
    • Tyler ordered the stand for subject entertainment, flexible arms and accessories to assist manoeuvring of the ultrasound probe handle.
  3. In vitro testing setup and specifications.
    • Ahmet and Tyler had a discussion about the setup of the in vitro experimentation room. They were in agreement about placement of a testing table. Ahmet ordered the table; Tyler will follow up. Tyler is also planning to get the x-ray viewing box removed from the testing room, get the room painted and floor waxed.
    • Tyler noted that the registration markers were manufactured using 3D printing; at the moment, they are being tapped. Other 3D printed accessories included an ultrasound probe handle holder and a light shield for the force transducer.
    • Tyler continued working on in vitro experimentation specifications. He updated registration marker locations, he placed screenshots for data collection software interface in the instrumented ultrasound wiki page.
    • Tyler also started evaluating tissue testing protocols. He will adapt a ligament testing protocol to punch out skin samples and test. He is also planning to test fat and muscle in compression.
  4. Modeling & simulation update.

    • Ben and Ahmet met to discuss SOFA and FEBio models and how they will be archived. In response to Ben's concern, Ahmet asked him to keep all model components in a folder, in case the model requires multiple files.
    • Ben got the carving add-on working. He has been setting up example models to illustrate the capacity of this feature and to serve as a template.
    • Ben mostly focused on features provided by SOFA add-ons. He will get back to segmentation when possible.
  5. Decide immediate action items for next meeting.
    • See Immediate Action Items above.
  6. Other.
    • Connor Lough, a summer intern for the Open Knee(s) project, and Erica Morrill, a visitor from Boise State University, joined the meeting.
    • Ahmet mentioned that he needed to prepare and submit the quarterly report to the US Army.
