Immediate Action Items:
- Tammy
- Reschedule in vivo experiments set for this week.
- Tara
- Update data collection software to allow “0” as input to subject height, weight and anthropometry.
- Update data collection software to emphasize message indicating finalization of tests.
- Update data collection software to report resultant maximum force along with maximum shear and normal force magnitudes.
- Tyler
- Follow up with ATI Inc. for recalibration of load cell.
- Order load transducers from ATI Inc. and NI DAQ equipment for instrumentation of surgical tools.
- Start documenting required specifications for mechanical testing system for tissue characterization.
- Start design for instrumentation of surgical forceps.
- Robb
- Continue software development for integration of Optotrak with existing data collection software.
- Rici
- Continue development of data analysis scripts to incorporate convenience features.
- Ben
- Continue developing modeling specifications.
- Ahmet
- Reach out to SOFA forums about compilation of haptic library (SOFA-HAPI).
Notes:
- Discuss immediate action items from past meetings.
- All action items were related to the recurring agenda items; refer to discussions below.
- In vivo testing progress.
- The recalibrated load transducer equipment from ATI Inc. is expected to arrive tomorrow. Tyler will work to validate the load cell by performing a series of sanity checks.
- Tammy will reschedule this week's in vivo testing trials to further dates.
- Tara was out of town for the meeting. Robb mentioned that she probably took care of her action items. These will be discussed in the following week when she comes back.
- Readiness for in vitro testing.
- The design and manufacturing of instrumented first set of surgical tools are nearly complete. The design includes a modular handle system and two add-ons; on for the scalpel and the other for the retractor. Tyler will work on instrumentation of a forceps.
- The cameras and computer monitors for the in vitro testing room are still in the mail.
- Robb has begun integrating Optotrak motion data collection with the LINUS. Ahmet and Robb discussed protocols for establishing registration during in vitro experimentation. Each major bone of an extremity will have registration markers and an Optotrak marker assembly, which need to be associated. The ultrasound probe will have an Optotrak marker assembly, which need to be registered to the handle using probing divots. Each segment i.e. upper leg, will be treated separately as individual experiments for clarity and modularity during collection.
- Mock up MRI sessions were scheduled for November. Ahmet and Tyler will work on a list of imaging trials for evaluation. Ahmet mentioned using a longer coil to capture the full leg/arm.
- Data analysis update.
- Rici updated the thickness extraction code to reflect recommendations provided in the last meeting. Rici also updated the wiki with current specifications and began investigating more automated image analysis methods. Rici mentioned an issue about not appropriately identifying the start and end of data analysis window when using the magnitude of forces. Ahmet will meet with Rici to view the data and the script to assist in debugging.
Modeling & simulation specifications.
- Ben has been updating specifications on the wiki for modeling and simulation.
- Decide immediate action items for next meeting.
- See Immediate Action Items above.
- Other.
- None noted.
