Immediate Action Items:

Notes:

  1. Discuss immediate action items from past meetings.
    • All action items were related to the recurring agenda items; refer to discussions below.
  2. In vivo testing progress.
    • Experimentation of 100 subjects were completed. Relevant manuscripts are in progress.
  3. Readiness for in vitro testing.
    • Experimentation on 14 limbs from 7 donors were completed. At this moment, 1 leg and 1 arm remain until limbs from younger donors are acquired.
    • The instrumented surgical tools have basic functionality: load is being transformed, motion tracking is working. The software interface will be similar to in vivo and in vitro phase 1. Final troubleshooting and mock up tests need to be conducted. Experimentation protocols to reflect surgical acts need to be developed.
    • The Mach-1 mechanical testing machine was installed. The team has been waiting for the third stage to arrive. Tissue testing protocols need to be detailed.
  4. Data analysis update.
    • In vivo data analysis is up to date. Data from all 100 subjects are uploaded to data management site for public dissemination.
    • In vitro data analysis is also up to date. The data has been uploaded to the data management site. A strategy for population of in vitro raw and derivative data needs to be discussed as the data content slightly differs from in vivo data, e.g. additional imaging with CT and MRI.
  5. Modeling & simulation specifications.

    • Assistive scripts for model development are available. Model generation and assembly from a collection of geometry files are possible. Model morphing is working. The current bottleneck for modeling is the segmentation of anatomy.
  6. Decide immediate action items for next meeting.
    • See Immediate Action Items above.
  7. Other.
    • Prospective manuscripts were discussed. Ahmet will share his list of potential articles with the group.
    • The group will attend ASB 2017 in Boulder, CO next week. There will be four posters from the project.
