Immediate Action Items:
- Tyler
- Add two trials (retractor and forceps) to in vitro experimentation using surgical tools for measurement of tissue strains.
- Continue developing tissue testing specifications.
- Format the manuscript on instrumented ultrasound to journal specifications.
- Rici
- Follow up with Stanford University team about dissemination of in vitro data.
- Ben
- Continue developing modeling specifications.
Continue developing manuscript on scripted model generation & assembly.
- Populate wiki page on modeling and simulation with in vitro indentation data.
- Tammy
- Continue segmentation for modeling and simulation.
- Ahmet
- Compile haptics libraries and SofaHAPI.
- Review Tyler's draft abstract for instrumented ultrasound manuscript.
- Submit progress report to the funding agency.
- All
- Add figures relevant to the progress of the project to the wiki.
Notes:
- Discuss immediate action items from past meetings.
- All action items were related to the recurring agenda items; refer to discussions below.
- Manuscripts update.
- Ahmet reviewed and returned Rici's manuscript.
- Tyler updated the ultrasound manuscript and began final formatting. He wrote an abstract and asked Ahmet to review it.
- Ben did not have a chance to focus on writing the modeling related manuscript.
- In vitro testing progress.
- All requested software updates were completed.
- Computer for the three-dimensional strain measurement system was repaired and returned from the manufacturer.
- Additional mock trials, dry or with a cadaver extremity, are anticipated.
Modeling & simulation progress.
- Ben continued to develop the leg simulation. He has been troubleshooting modification of boundary conditions for release of gravitational loading to find unloaded tissue geometry. He has also been debugging contact simulations, e.g. between tissue and pad and tissue and probe.
- Tammy continued segmentation; she is almost done with segmentation of a cadaver leg specimen.
- Rici evaluated the probe orientation during indentation. The deviation appeared to be around 2 degrees. Ahmet recommended that the probe orientation may be assumed as constant for simulations.
- Decide immediate action items for next meeting.
- See Immediate Action Items above.
- Other.
- Ahmet will be submitting annual report this week. He asked team members to populate the wiki with figures that he can use to demonstrate progress of the project.
- Ahmet also noted that third year funding was officially awarded.
