Notes:
- Discuss immediate action items from past meetings.
- All action items were related to the recurring agenda items; refer to discussions below.
- Manuscripts update.
- Tyler has finalized incorporating comments from co-authors and has been preparing files for submission. He will submit the manuscript on instrumented ultrasound this week.
- Rici finalized the draft of in vivo data manuscript and has sent it to the co-authors for review. All co-authors will need to provide their feedback to Rici. Yet, this is not urgent as this manuscript needs to await dissemination of a static version of data. Rici and Ahmet will discuss this with Stanford University team in the next conference call.
- Ben has started working on the manuscript on model assembly. Ahmet asked him to come up with an initial list of case studies to include in the study.
- Ahmet asked Rici to start an outline for her next manuscript on comparative analysis of tissue thickness from different imaging modalities. Ahmet also asked Tyler to start thinking about the studies to complete to write up a manuscript on instrumented surgical tools.
- In vitro testing progress.
- Tyler mentioned that Tara has been working to fix some bugs in the instrumented surgical tools data collection software. He has been waiting for the software to be ready for the next mock up.
- Tyler provided a labeling strategy for instrumented surgical tool trials. The team went over the documentation on the wiki and provided feedback for Tyler to implement.
- Tyler will try to conduct some tissue testing to understand requirements of skin, fat, and muscle characterization.
Modeling & simulation progress.
- Ben continued troubleshooting SOFA simulations to achieve simulations comparable to FEBio. He has been exploring the sensitivity of simulation on contact stiffness and material properties.
- Ben also started work to develop a layered model in FEBio using segmentations provided by Tammy. Thin structures, e.g. skin, have been problematic to model due to limitations of surface smoothing and resampling. The group discussed alternative strategies to mesh skin, e.g. by extruding along normals with given local thickness.
- Decide immediate action items for next meeting.
- See Immediate Action Items above.
- Other.
- None noted.
