Immediate Action Items:
- Tyler
- Continue fine tuning experimentation protocols using instrumented surgical tools.
- Continue evaluating the reproducibility of tissue testing protocols.
- Ben
- Continue developing modeling specifications.
- Document potential test cases to include in model assembly manuscript on the wiki.
- Rici
- Submit in vivo data manuscript.
- Continue development of an outline for manuscript on tissue thickness measurement comparisons.
- Continue in vivo data analysis for manuscript on indentation stiffness.
- Ahmet
- Compile haptics libraries and SofaHAPI.
- Follow up with Tyler and Rici to prepare for IMSH 2018 exhibit.
Notes:
- Discuss immediate action items from past meetings.
- All action items were related to the recurring agenda items; refer to discussions below.
- Manuscripts update.
- Tyler has not received feedback from the journal on the instrumented ultrasound manuscript.
- Ahmet and Rici evaluated in vivo data content for acquisition of DOI. Stanford University team reserved a DOI. Rici will utilize this DOI for the data to finalize the submission of the in vivo data manuscript.
- Tyler asked about the priority of the instrumented surgical tool manuscript. Ahmet emphasized the higher priority of in vitro experimentation as this will feed into multiple manuscripts.
- Rici has been analyzing data for in vivo indentation stiffness. She has not worked on the manuscript for comparative analysis of tissue thickness as measured by different imaging modalities.
- Ben has been preparing the case studies for model assembly manuscript.
- In vitro testing progress.
- In the last mock test, surface strain measurements using the VIC3D system nearly worked out. Tyler is confident that in vitro testing of instrumented surgical tools will begin soon.
- Tyler get some tissue testing fixtures and bath made so that testing can be done simultaneously with tissue testing of Open Knee(s). He has been testing skin to understand reproducibility of the testing protocol. The team looked at preliminary data collected by him. Ahmet recommended him to increase the time between repeated tests and utilize a higher force threshold to find the starting point of the tests.
Modeling & simulation progress.
- During the preparation of use cases for model assembly manuscript, Ben has been updating the code.
- Tammy completed segmentation of gross layers of legs and arms of one male and one female donor.
- IMSH 2018 exhibit.
- Ahmet has been informed about the opportunity for the team to have an exhibit at IMSH 2018. There was not enough time to discuss the logistics. Ahmet will follow up with Tyler and Rici.
- Decide immediate action items for next meeting.
- See Immediate Action Items above.
- Other.
- Ahmet mentioned that he has opened an research engineer position for the laboratory. The recruit will likely work on this project as well.
