Notes:
- Manuscripts update.
- Ahmet reviewed the draft of the in vivo indentation paper that Rici prepared. Rici will address his comments and write the abstract so that Tammy and Ahmet can do a final read through before submission.
- Rici still needs to reach out to Jim Bena about the statistics for the image comparison paper.
- Ben has not made much progress on the paper recently, but will re-focus on the paper in the coming weeks.
- Tyler will refer to the in vitro paper for the CT and MRI imaging for the surgical tools paper. He will focus on completing the draft for the in vitro data paper. Ahmet would prefer to wait until all 10 in vitro subject experimentation is complete.
- The instrumented surgical tools paper has been published through IEEE (from the EMBS conference).
- Data dissemination update.
- Rici tested the integrated data management system and provided feedback to SimTK. It will be tested with a few outside groups prior to going "live".
- Rici will send an e-mail to the Stanford team to branch the in vitro site so that we have a separate system for the surgical tools data.
- In vitro testing status.
- The team completed ultrasound and surgical tools experimentation on an additional leg last week and has an additional leg and two arms to test in the next two weeks.
- Tyler plans to wait on tissue testing until he has completed the ultrasound and surgical tools testing so that he has more workspace available.
Modeling & simulation status.
- Sean has completed the mesh convergence study for the female upper leg. Ahmet suggested using Iso parameterization of 12 for reaction forces. Calibration of the models at all regions should be done with Iso parameterization of 12. The current models of the remaining regions are made with Iso parameterization of 8.
- Ahmet suggested moving forward on calibration.
- Ben mentioned trying second order elements to see how this changes the convergence. Sean and Ben will look into this and complete it if possible within the week.
- Ben found the skin thickness script to check the assumption that the skin can be treated as a constant thickness (mean). Ahmet asked about mapping it on the surface as a field variable, however the standard deviation is less than the resolution of the image and so this is not necessary.
- Ahmet asked Sean if he would like to make all of the layered models (for each region) or wait until one is running. Sean will begin cleaning up the layered model surfaces once lumped model calibration is done.
- Ben has been working on the layered models and the group generation. The normal directions were incorrect (pointing in the wrong direction). He tried flipping the normals, but the model will not run in FEBio. He is still looking into the issues with this.
- Review of action items from past meeting.
- All action items were related to the agenda items; refer to discussions above.
- Decide action items for next meeting.
- See Ongoing Action Items above.
- Other.
- Tyler has not heard anything about the Haptics order, but will follow up.
