Agenda:

  1. Manuscripts update.
  2. Data dissemination update.
  3. In vitro testing status.
  4. Modeling & simulation status.

  5. Review of action items from past meeting.
  6. Decide action items for next meeting.
  7. Other.

Ongoing Action Items:

Notes:

  1. Manuscripts update.
    • In vivo indentation paper: Waiting on review from Journal of Biomechanics. Rici will look at the statistics discussions we had with Jim Bena to see if we need to reach out to him again for expansion of this analysis.
    • In vitro data paper: Tyler is working to review the comments that Ahmet provided. Tyler worked with Rici to update the registration errors. Rici will modify the angle calculations to report the dot product between the vectors in each coordinate system.
    • Surgical tools data paper: Ahmet still needs to examine the Vic3D files.
    • Model assembly paper: Ben is still working on this paper. He is out of town this week.
    • In vivo/in vitro indentation comparison: Ahmet asked Sean to work on an outline of this paper in a staged manner.
  2. Data dissemination update.
    • Stanford University team is in a supporting role. Cleveland Clinic team is waiting for integration of data dissemination sites to SimTK.
  3. In vitro testing status.
    • Mach 1 is fixed - the issues were related to a Windows update. Ahmet would still like to investigate putting the system on the network.
    • Facilities is installing the 8020 in the OpenKnee room tomorrow.

    • Tyler will start training Ellen for tissue testing using rubber to start.
    • Ahmet asked Tyler to setup the lab and train the interested lab members for the various data collection systems.
  4. Modeling & simulation status.

    • Rici made an upper segment model with the adaptive mesh strategy for Sean to use for comparison to the cut layered method. The MEDCoupling remeshing script only works with linear meshes. Sean will work with Ben to update the workflow in order to switch to quad elements after the adaptive meshing is completed with linear elements.
    • Sean re-made and re-calibrated all of the lumped models with quadratic mesh elements for the bone. All of the models are up on Midas.
    • Sean will be presenting on the lumped models on Friday morning.
    • Ahmet noted that we need to start branching the lumped models in several ways. (1) morphing the models to the in vivo data and (2) push lumped models to SOFA.
    • Ahmet asked Ariel to create a model simplification script to specify a prism that is deformable. The remaining nodes outside the prism would be fixed as rigid bodies. This will allow us to reduce the footprint of the models.
    • Sean created a script to define different materials within the same part. He asked about implementing this within the model workflow. Ahmet will leave it up to Ben on if he would like to add this to his model assembly scrips.
  5. Review of action items from past meeting.
    • All action items were related to the agenda items; refer to discussions above.
  6. Decide action items for next meeting.
    • See Ongoing Action Items above.
  7. Other.
    • Tammy is waiting for modeling specifications to be complete before cleaning up the modeling related wiki pages.
