Optical Thickness Measurement System
Optical thickness measurement system (OTMS) set up
The frame is built using MakerBeam framing system.
- Lens: Fujifilm lens HF12.5HA-1B
- Camera: Firefly fmvu-13s2c-cs
- Ruler/gage pin: Stainless steel precision ruler
- Background: Blue
OTMS image acquisition
- Place the sample close to the edge of the platform.
- Use flycapture software to acquire tissue and ruler image.
- From the file menu capture video.
- Choose the folder where image is going to be saved, Frames=1, file type= .jpg.
Refer to Specifications/DataManagement for naming conventions.
Using the GUI
Run the script from the command prompt.
- Choose browse from the GUI to find the desired .jpg file and open the image.
- First, choose the maximum measurement along the ruler and the zero point at the bottom of the ruler. Enter the measurement (mm) in the box next to the calibrate button.
- Hit "Calibrate". This should display the number of pixels in the window.
- For all pick point sets, try to choose near the same X axis value to create vertical lines.
- Next, choose "Pick", then choose the two points to create a line connecting the upper and lower boundaries of the sample, hit "OK". Proceed to pick at least ten sets of points.
- Choose "compute" to find the average, providing the sample thickness.
