Iso Parameterization Procedures
This method is NOT particularly robust and may fail. Please save any progress you have made before beginning.
- Select desired mesh from the Layer pane.
From the drop down menu select Filters > Remeshing, Simplification and Reconstruction > Iso Parameterization
This opens a new panel, use the default options, click Apply.
MeshLab will now try to isoparameterize the mesh.
If this fails in any way, try again but deselect the Double Step check box near the bottom left of the panel.
When isoparameterizing sucessfully completes MeshLab has characterized the mesh, but it hasn't remeshed yet.
Iso Parameterization Remeshing
From the drop down menu select Filters > Remeshing, Simplification and Reconstruction > Iso Parameterization Remeshing. You must have already completed Iso Parameterization for this to work.
Try default Sampling Rate = 10. This may be too large for many Multis meshes.
- Click 'Apply'.
If needed, change the sampling rate iterate last two steps, changing the Sampling Rate until desired surface triangle size is obtained. Smaller numbers makes larger triangles. Do not make the number too large.
It may be necessary to perform smoothing to untwist potentially collapsed triangles at focal points from Iso Parametrization. Use Filters > Smoothing, Faring and Deformation > Taubin Smoothing the defaults are good. Be sure to apply to all faces not just selected.
