VCG Reconstruction Procedures
Please note that this method works on all visible mesh layers. This is different from most MeshLab procedures. It is best to only have one mesh loaded to ensure the desired outcome is achieved.
From the drop down menu select Filters > Remeshing, Simplification and Reconstruction > Surface Reconstruction: VCG
This opens a new panel, set Voxel Side, world unit to a meaningful size (maybe relative to original image resolution).
- Select 'Post Merge Simplification'.
If Volume Laplacian iter is increased the resulting reconstructed volume decreases.
Changing Widening had no noticeable visual effect.
Click Apply.
If stl fragments appear after Reconstruction
- Please make sure the desired is selected mesh from the Layer pane. Find this in the tool bar. It looks somewhat like a stack of paper.
From the tool bar select the Select Connected Components in a region tool. it looks like this.
This tool doesn't need much of the mesh. Click on the part of the mesh that to be kept and drag a small rectangle. MeshLab will now select all of the triangles that are connected to one another within the mesh file. This can take several seconds for very large meshes. Selected triangles will turn pink.
From the drop down menu select Filters > Selection > Invert Selection
This opens a new panel, deselect the Invert Vertices check box.
Click Apply. Now the fragments should be selected.
Now press the delete key. Alternatively from the tool bar the Delete current set of faces and all of the vertices surrounded by that face icon. It is second from the right.
