Immediate Action Items:
- Tyler
- Fine tune strain measurement protocols using instrumented surgical tools.
- Reach out colleagues to request digital image correlation strategies.
- Continue evaluating the reproducibility of tissue testing protocols.
- Complete and submit extended abstract on surgical tool instrumentation for IEEE EMBS conference.
- Ben
- Consolidate and document modeling specifications targeted for lump tissue modeling.
- Rici
- Continue development of manuscript on tissue thickness measurement comparisons.
- Continue development of manuscript on in vivo indentation stiffness.
- Continue evaluation of in vitro data querying interface.
- Ahmet
- Compile haptics libraries and SofaHAPI.
- Review extended abstract on surgical tool instrumentation for IEEE EMBS conference.
- Identify end-point outcomes for lump modeling efforts.
Notes:
- Manuscripts update.
- All submitted manuscripts (ultrasound instrumentation and in vivo data) are currently under review.
- Ahmet and Ben met and prepared a detailed outline for the manuscript on model assembly and annotation.
- Rici did not have a chance to return back to manuscripts on tissue thickness measurement reproducibility and in vivo surface stiffness.
- Tyler wrote a four page extended abstract on surgical tool instrumentation for submission to IEEE EMBS conference. Ahmet and other co-authors will review the document and Tyler will submit. This may be expanded to a full manuscript.
- Ahmet would like to define final products for lumped tissue models. This would help identify what exactly needs to be done for the sequence of manuscripts on this topic. Ben will document and implement the complete workflows for different types of lumped tissue modeling.
- Data dissemination update.
- Rici feels like the branched data management and dissemination platform is functional for our intended storage of raw in vitro data. The querying system may need some work to ensure data types unique to in vitro testing can be found.
- Rici and Ahmet also talked about a query administration tool to limit exposed query parameters and therefore simplify querying. Rici reached out to Tod (Stanford University) to ask for this functionality. There is a meeting scheduled with Stanford University team next week. Ahmet will be out. Yet, he asked Rici to touch based with them to discuss these requests and also the timeline for the integration of the system in SimTK.
- In vitro testing status.
- Tyler continued to document specifications for tissue testing.
- Tyler's code is now functional to evaluate data immediately after testing.
- Strategies for compression testing of fat were discussed. An estimate of forces will be found by initial, small indenter tests before building a larger indenter.
- The team has not decided to bring in Vic3D for consultation. Tyler also intends to contact colleagues he met at IMSH 2018 to ask for their recommendations.
Modeling & simulation status.
- Ben is mostly focusing on the manuscript. He has also approached documentation of specifications by providing alternative strategies.
- Review of immediate action items from past meeting.
- All action items were related to the agenda items; refer to discussions above.
- Decide immediate action items for next meeting.
- See Immediate Action Items above.
- Other.
- Next week, Ahmet will be traveling to Fort Detrick for in-process review meeting.
