Ongoing Action Items:

Notes:

  1. Manuscripts update.
    • Rici has completed the indentation paper and will submit to Journal of Biomechanics later this afternoon.
    • Tyler will continue working on the data papers (in vitro and surgical tools). The in vitro data paper will be his first focus.
    • Ben has made progress on the model assembly paper. He had a question about citing software within Zotero - Ahmet suggested adding the software website as a webpage in Zotero. He asked about adding second order tetrahedral meshing to the paper, Ahmet suggested adding a test case to display this feature in the paper. He will provide a draft to Ahmet by the end of the week.
  2. Data dissemination update.
    • Ahmet would like to duplicate the CT, MRI, and ultrasound data to the surgical tools data management site. Instead of duplicating the data, Rici will add referrals to the sister data management sites in a Readme.txt file.
  3. In vitro testing status.
    • We are waiting for arm and leg specimens from a final donor.
    • Tyler has updated the data overview plots. He will upload the data to the multisgamma data management site.
    • Tyler is also looking into filtering techniques to remove the spikes and noise from the Optotrak data. Ahmet suggested looking at the frequency response of the signal to determine appropriate cutoff frequencies to use for filtering.
    • Tyler will resume tissue testing specification development at the end of this week using some mock tissue.
  4. Modeling & simulation status.

    • Sean has not been able to get the optimization to work in FEBio (2.8). He sent a message to the FEBio folks, however they have not gotten back to him yet.
    • Sean has been working to implement Ben's optimization code using the HPC.
    • Sean has generated all eight models using quad meshes (lumped).
    • Ben has been working on development of the layered models. Second order wedge elements are not exporting correctly to work in FEBio. Linear wedge elements, linear tets and quadratic tets are working. The tie between the skin, if modeled with linear wedge elements, and quadratic tets of underlying tissue still needs debugging.
    • Sean is concerned about the size of the model files. Ahmet asked about storing model input files or just configuration files. Specifically for output files, we need to figure out what information we need to keep and post-process accordingly.
  5. Review of action items from past meeting.
    • All action items were related to the agenda items; refer to discussions above.
  6. Decide action items for next meeting.
    • See Ongoing Action Items above.
  7. Other.
    • Tammy will continue working with Ahmet and the rest of the team to help clean up the wiki pages.
    • Ahmet submitted the annual report and human subjects renewal.
