• Roadmap

The overall goal of the Open Knee(s) project is to deliver finite element representation of six knee joints; inclusive of tibiofemoral and patellofemoral articulations and representative of young & elderly, male & female, and healthy & osteoarthritic. The roadmap, including versioning, and the timeline can be found in the section Open Knee(s) Models. It is anticipated that various general purpose scripts will be developed to assist modeling and simulation tasks. Versioning and roadmap of these are noted in the section Open Knee(s) Utilities. A list of available infrastructure can be found in the section Infrastructure. A list of specifications for experimentation, modeling, and simulation tasks can be found in the section Specifications. Open Knee(s) Models

Versioning

Releases of Open Knee(s) models rely on the following version numbering scheme:

Generation <#> Specimen <#> Version version.major.minor.revision

Roadmap

Open Knee(s) Generation 2 aims at six knee joint models representative of young & elderly, male & female, and healthy & osteoarthritic. The roadmap to accomplish the development and evaluation of these models will not follow any particular order of any specimen specifics:

Within each specimen, versions are targeted to delivery of following milestones:

• Version 0.1: Anatomical data

• Version 0.2: + Joint mechanics data

• Version 0.3: + Tissue mechanics data

• Version 0.4 and above: + Various model generation steps

• Version 1.0 and above: + Working knee joint model (tibiofemoral and patellofemoral)

• Version 2.0 and above: + Evaluated knee joint model (correspondence of predictive capacity against experimental data)

Timeline

The tentative timeline is provided below for reference (as indicated in the grant application).

This schedule changes due to logistics of experimentation, i.e. delivery of different versions for different specimens will likely be out of order. The following table summarizes the actual schedule where data and models were made available:
