Incorporate viscoelastic vessel wall models into models of blood flow and pressure in the cardiovascular system and investigate the impact of wall viscoelasticity in blood flow simulations.
This project is developing a system for modeling blood flow in arteries incorporating viscoelastic wall models. Currently the implementation is a one-dimensional model of blood flow and pressure incorporating a linear viscoelastic wall model. The impact of adding wall viscoelasticity to simulations of blood flow and pressure will be assessed using this system.
Viscoelasticity of the wall is also being implemented in a 3-D FSI computational model of blood flow through the SimVascular project.
